Name : Gieve Patel
Brief Bio : Born in 1940, Mumbai, Gieve Patel is a true polymath, working in all kind of creative and
scientific world. He is a self taught artist, practicing general physician, a poet and playwright. He graduated as
Doctor of Medicine from Grant Medical College, Mumbai in 1964.
His paintings depict a realistic naturalism and the freedom of painterly abstraction. The common man, varied human
situations that he observes and encounters each day is sensibly reproduced in his work.

the Rockefeller Fellowship, University of Chicago,1992; the C.R.Parekh Writer in Residence, Nirman Foundation Grant, University of Pennsylvania, 2003. He had Mister Behram and other plays, published by Seagull Books in 2007.
The artist lives and works in Mumbai.
