Clothing the Identity
It is about Identity. Being born with one, taking on another. …. not being assertive about it… being uncomfortable with it…. disguising or taking another form…. being discreet and ambiguous…taking refuge in another exotic form in order to be acceptable…. in a way which is only being vulnerable, protective and insecure of one’s identity. How do I say what I want to say without being judged/biased? Revealing only to conceal. sensuous but austere and serene. Sometimes assuming another form might seem to be an answer but it could lead to another identity… that of being deceptive.
I have tried to make the form of the figures heavier and real and also tried to fuse in the classical form and used only black patina for the newer works. The previous works were slightly elongated and used multicolour patinas.
