Vipul was born in the town of Sitamarhi in Bihar in 1970 known for its mythologies and earthiness. He currently lives in Jaipur and has one of the largest ceramic studios on the outskirts of the city. He studied for his B.F.A. and M.F.A in Sculpture from B.H.U., Varanasi in 1993 and 1995 M.F.A. respectively. He is the recipient of the Junior fellowship, the Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India in 2000 and Research grant from Lalit Kala Academy, Ravindra Bhavan, New Delhi in 2002. He received the National Culture Scholarship from the ministry of HRD, Govt. of India in 1996. His works are part of the Indian Ceramics Triennale in Jaipur. His recent installation is at the Ahmedabad Private Estate titled ‘Mount Meru’ and his installation is part of the T2 Mumbai airport permanent collection curated by Rajiv Sethi.
