Residual Rhythms - A Solo show of Ceramics

THRESHOLD is delighted to present a solo show by JYOTSNA BHATT- a living legend in her own chosen medium. Jyotsna's work in clay and ceramics are alive, responsive, animate and delightfully witty. Ovoid birds, languorous cats, limp kittens, squirrels and bulbous frogs come to life in an infectiously humorous manner. Created solely for this show are double walled vases some shaped like buds. On view for the first time are a limited edition of wall plates based on etchings by Jyoti Bhatt -a senior respected prints maker and also Jyotsna's husband. This is their first collaborative endeavor. Reduction firing,stoneware,and raku have been her forte over the past decade or so. This show includes her `tulip' series that she reinvents as different pieces of ceramic ware - platters,vases,little animals birds etc. As a ceramic artist she is considered to be an icon in the world of pottery by virtue of her experience and her ability to weave nature's rhythms.
