Held by a Web: Five Women Artists on Drawing, Form, and Quiet Resolve

This quiet invitation calls us to use the fragility of paper to speak boldly, to write, to bear witness and to connect. In this exhibition, five women artists whose practices span painting, drawing, and sculpture answer that call. Paper holds both permanence and impermanence and becomes a shared, intimate surface where each artist weaves together body, memory, and transformation. Shaped by a shared pedagogical grounding at MSU, Baroda, their practices reflect sustained attention to material and discipline.

Through acts of layering and careful making, the works of these artists offer voices of resilience and resolve – bearing personal and political stories that hold tension, care, and strength in delicate form.

Together, these works form a kind of web – tensile, deliberate and intimate, held not by force, but by persistence, precision and the invisible strength of what is often overlooked.

In this way, the exhibition privileges restraint not as a limitation, but as power.
